Originally the site of James I's aviary and extended by his Grandson, Charles II â€" Birdcage Walk was created as part of a postâ€"Restoration remodelling of St.James' Park. Up until 1828 only the Hereditary Grand Falconer (the Duke of St. Albans) and the Royal Family could drive down it.
