The Westminster Collection invites event industry buyers to 'Afternoon Tea' at its annual 'Showcase' - with the help of Westminster Kingsway College.

 The
Westminster Collection (TWC), comprising a broad range of prestigious
venues, hotels and hospitality facilities in Westminster, is providing
BTEC National Diploma Hospitality Supervision students at Westminster
Kingsway College with vocational work experience as part of their
annual TWC Showcase event. The TWC Showcase has become an annual
fixture for event planners and buyers looking for suitable venues and
facilities in Westminster and is now in its 3rd year. The 2009 event will be held at Central Hall Westminster from 4.30pm-7.30pm on Thursday, 5th February 2009, with a creative theme devised by the students at Westminster Kingsway College.
 The
group of 12 second year BTEC National Diploma Hospitality students from
Westminster Kingsway College were tasked with creating a selection of
suitable hospitality themes for the Showcase event that actively
reflected the Westminster Collection's members. The students had the
opportunity to present their ideas to the TWC Showcase organising
committee before the committee decided on the winning theme of ‘Afternoon tea with the Westminster Collection'.
The students will be developing this ‘afternoon tea' theme further and
managing the hospitality aspects of the event both beforehand and
during the event itself including the menu, food and drink service and
entertainment.A unique partnership exists between The Westminster Collection (TWC) and Westminster Kingsway College. The College is an Associate Member of TWC and through these links the hospitality and culinary arts students have been able to gain some vocational experience with TWC members through their Showcase events. Stephen Hyde, Head of Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism at Westminster Kingsway College said "The participation of Westminster Kingsway College's Hospitality students in the organisation of the 2009 Westminster Collection Showcase will be a hugely important part of their final year studies. We have worked with the Westminster Collection for a number of years and are developing further opportunities for students to gain vocational experience during their studies before they seek employment in the hospitality and events industries." Cllr Sarah Richardson, cabinet member for children's services at Westminster City Council, said: "This kind of partnership is brilliant for our young people as it gives them the opportunity to try out their new-found skills in a real business environment.
