A unique partnership exists between The Westminster Collection (TWC) and Westminster Kingsway College. The College is an Associate Member of TWC and through these links the hospitality and culinary arts students have been able to gain some vocational experience with TWC members through their Showcase events. Stephen Hyde, Head of Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism at Westminster Kingsway College said "The participation of Westminster Kingsway College's Hospitality students in the organisation of the 2009 Westminster Collection Showcase will be a hugely important part of their final year studies. We have worked with the Westminster Collection for a number of years and are developing further opportunities for students to gain vocational experience during their studies before they seek employment in the hospitality and events industries." René Dee, CEO of The Westminster Collection said: "We are delighted to be enabling vocational experience for Westminster Kingsway College's Hospitality students. We consider this to be a very important part of the corporate social responsibility role our company and its members can play, in assisting young people to gain valuable experience in the business tourism sector. We have been impressed by their imagination and flair in presenting us with 5 ‘Showcase' themes to choose from." Cllr Sarah Richardson, cabinet member for children's services at Westminster City Council, said: "This kind of partnership is brilliant for our young people as it gives them the opportunity to try out their new-found skills in a real business environment. I've no doubt the local companies and organisations involved will be keen to share their expertise and experience with the students so they'll benefit that way too." -Ends- Notes to Editors For further information about The Westminster Collection and its Members, please visit www.thewestminstercollection.co.uk or contact René Dee by email at venue100-twc@yahoo.co.uk or by mobile telephone on 07541314855.
